Culture for the eyes and the palate: Val Gardena is known for its rich history. There is much to discover in the footsteps of the Rhaetians and the Romans, and a journey to discover the treasures of art and architecture is promising. The local heritage museum “Museum de Gherdёina” offers a stroll through the valley’s history, but even during a visit of woodcarving laboratories it is possible to get to know an important piece of local craftmanship. Cooking classes and farm visits are highly recommended for gourmets.
The art of woodcarving has a centuries-old tradition in Val Gardena. Originally it was a pastime for the whole family during the long winter evenings. Today, woodcarving extends from sacral to contemporary art. In the compact introductory course, you will try relief carving and learn the basic knowledge of this craft under expert supervision.
